Having a home office is a wonderful thing, and can really allow you to do be productive when you are working from home. One of the most important items to include within your home office is going to be a desk. While a basic desk is the first step, there are certain things that you should consider getting for your office desk to make it more functional and convenient for you. This article is going to discuss 2 great extras that you should consider purchasing for your desk, and exactly why they are so great and what they can be used for.

Surface Cover

Your home desk is likely one that you use all of the time, and the part that you are going to use the most is going to be the surface of the desk. Because of this, it is very important that you have something that covers and protects the entire surface of the desk. There are surface covers that you can purchase that will be custom cut to fit the dimensions of the top of your desk. These surface covers are generally going to be made out of either a thick plastic or glass. While both are going to do a great job, the glass is going to be a bit more resistant to damage, but the plastic is going to be easier to clean. In either case, you are going to be able to preserve the quality of the surface of your desk by placing the cover on right away.

Shelving

When you purchase a desk, you are likely going to have the option or purchasing extra shelving that goes on top of the desk. While you may not think that you need this extra shelving initially, chances are that you are going to want them eventually. As you work at your desk in your home office, you are likely going to create a lot of documents, or receive documents, that you are going to need to carefully store. These extra shelves will not only give you the room that you need to store all of these documents, but they are also going to allow you to store all of your other office items as well, such as a printer, stapler, extra paper, books, writing utensils, paper clips, and all other office items that you just don't want to leave laying around on your desk.
